Run, Forrest! Run!

Run, Forrest! Run!

Although Forrest Gump is presumably autistic, he participated in many historical event.  Forrest Gump seems so suffer from Asperger's- A sort of Autism. He fails to recognize people's facial expressions and does not carry on adequate conversations. He does not understand any social explanation, but the analysis of his life since the age of eight into adulthood shows that he was a Caucasian male, an American from Alabama, a College football star, a US Vietnam Army Veteran, a CEO of Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, a National and international Ping Pong Champion and a Famous for running across the US.Forrest is likely an Autistic Savant, which means he has both Autism and Savant Syndrome, which is a disorder in which a person has fine abilities in, memory, music, art, and in Forrest's case, physical and motor abilities.

Quotes

In 2014, a U.S. study found that almost half of the children with ASD had average or above average intelligence, that is, an IQ score above 85. Less than a third of the children with autism had intellectual disability, and 23% had IQ scores in the "borderline range" from 71 to 85. His IQ was 75, which was borderline Intellectual Disability. But he is wise, though!  He has got some touching quotes.

This movie, for some reason, reminds me of William Butler Yeats's masterpiece "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death". In this poem, Yeats tries to show how they struggled with their identity as Irishmen who were risking their lives fighting for a country they did not feel was their own. During the Vietnam War (1955-1975), Benjamin Buford "Bubba", Forrest's friend whom he meets upon joining the Army and who originally dreamed of being the senior partner in the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and the captain of the shrimping boat, died. And this poem flashed into my mind when I saw that scene.

Bubba's death in Vietnam War

And...And all in all, I still do not get it. Why he only cried over Jenny, not either his "Mama" or his friend "Bubba."
Finally here is some inspirational scenes and quotes from the Oscar winning movie, Forrest Gump.

Sometimes things will hurt no matter what you do to try to feel better.

Everyone remembers this scene from Forest Gump when he ran with a broken leg and just carried on walking with the city behind him... 😊
